'The music, characterisation, vitality and atmosphere were all outstanding, but in particular we felt that the signing actually enhanced the production, and were amazed to be told that this was only for one performance. It felt as if the two signers had been a part of the script the whole way, and the interaction between them and the cast was excellent.' - JH, 2017

'As an Associate Professor at the University of Reading who regularly explores Shakespearean texts with university students, I am used to viewing and critiquing Shakespeare in performance on stage and screen. What I have learnt from the recent Sign Integrated Performance of Twelfth Night at The Watermill Theatre, Newbury, is that these performances enhance the experience of all audience members, not just those who are unable to hear the words on stage. I found myself seeing new meaning in the text and appreciating hitherto unseen nuances because of the ways the sign performers were able to integrate their sign interpretation into the main activity on stage. This has enriched my own appreciation of the play and this will, in turn, be of benefit to the students I teach. I am bringing colleagues from the university to the performance in July. Thank you to The Watermill Theatre for making this happen.' - LB, 2017

'The Twelfth Night BSL performance with Lixi and Ana was one of the most magical and life affirming experiences I've ever had. It added a new dimension to the story-telling that even members of the audience who hadn't specifically come for the BSL show thoroughly enjoyed. From the very start, they became the fabric of the play's being. It felt so inclusive and special. In the evening show after the matinee performance we did, they were very sorely missed! Cannot wait to do another show when we are back in the Watermill.'  - AG, actor, 2017
